The annual Southern Regional Conference of the Catholic Charismatic Renewal, based on the theme “As By A New Pentecost,” will be held March 23-25 at the Pontchartrain Center in Kenner.
The theme is taken from the prayer of Blessed Pope John XXIII for the Second Vatican Council: “Renew your wonders, O Lord, in this our day, as by a new Pentecost.”
“I encourage you to attend this conference to share in that Pentecost personally and to encourage others to be open to the Spirit,” Archbishop Gregory Aymond said.
Archbishop Aymond will be celebrant and homilist at the conference Mass on March 24 at 9 a.m.
Conference speakers include Father Bob Hogan, chairman of the National Catholic Charismatic Renewal Service Committee; Dr. Ralph Martin, president of Renewal Ministries; Bob Canton, who has a worldwide ministry of praying for healing; and Patti Mansfield, a participant in the 1967 Duquesne Weekend, which began the Catholic Charismatic Renewal.
The conference begins March 23 at 7 p.m. and concludes March 25 with an 11 a.m. Mass. Everyone is welcome to attend the conference for a single session or all weekend.
There will also be a pre-conference teaching session on March 23 at 1 p.m. with talks by Al and Patti Mansfield. A Mass of Intercession will be celebrated by Father Hogan at 3:30 p.m.
A youth workshop for teenagers and young adults will be held March 23 at 7 p.m., with a Festival of Praise led by Colin MacIver. The youth session will continue March 24 with 9 a.m. Mass celebrated by Archbishop Aymond and will last until 10 p.m. Speakers include Father Hogan and Canton. Youth not covered by family registration may attend for $20. Concessions will be available.
On March 25 at 9 a.m., Canton will give a talk on healing, followed by a eucharistic healing service led by Father Bill Henry. Father Hogan will celebrate the Sunday Mass at 11 a.m. The conference will conclude before lunch.
Seating is limited, and early registration is encouraged. Discounts are available for pre-registration. No pre-registration is needed for single sessions. All priests, religious brothers and sisters, deacons and their families are invited to attend the conference at no charge, but pre-registration is requested.
The fee schedule is as follows: individual adult, $50; married couple, $70; family (same household), $80; single session, $20; youth workshop, $20; all day Saturday, $40.
