If power rankings tell a true tale, whichever team wins the Oct. 27 game between St. Charles Catholic and De La Salle has an inside track to the LHSAA’s Division II football championship.
Despite having lost a non-district game to Class 5A East Ascension, St. Charles still occupies the No. 1 spot in the Division II rankings. De La Salle (6-0) sits at No. 3 behind University Lab (7-0).
U-Lab’s remaining opponents (Mentorship Academy, Madison Prep and Baker) have a combined record of 6-13.
The latest rankings also show that John Curtis (6-1), Scotlandville (7-0), Evangel (5-1) and Catholic of Baton Rouge (5-2) are four highest-ranked teams in Division I.
Among the highest-ranked Catholic League teams are St. Augustine (5-2) at No. 5 and Archbishop Rummel (5-1) at No. 6.
