Forty elementary and high schools exhibited original pieces of student art at the 2012 Catholic Schools Week Art/Music Festival at Lakeside Shopping Center, Jan. 24-28. The annual festival, which also features vocal and dance performances, is sponsored by the archdiocesan Office of Catholic Schools. A small sampling of pieces by the exhibit’s high school-age artists is showcased here. “The Triumph of Agnes,” a pastel work by Holy Cross senior Nicholas Aperwhite, is pictured at right.
At right: Still life of pink flowers by Katie Bowes, junior, St.
Mary’s Dominican;
at left: “Indiana Jones” by Emily Marino, junior, Archbishop Chapelle;
and at right: Van Gogh-inspired New Orleans skyline by Hillary Engelhardt, senior, Mount Carmel Academy.
Micah Mirsberger, an Archbishop Rummel senior, executed an acrylic triptych of Beatle John Lennon, left.
