The University of Holy Cross (UHC) and the Archdiocese of New Orleans Department of Catholic Education and Faith Formation have signed a new three-year collaborative agreement that will allow juniors and seniors from authorized Catholic high schools to participate in dual enrollment classes at UHC.
The deadline for high school seniors interested in participating in the dual-enrollment program for the fall semester is Sept. 8.
To be eligible for the dual-enrollment offerings, students must maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher and meet UHC’s dual-enrollment admission requirements outlined on the UHC dual enrollment webpage: http://uhcno.edu/admissions/dual_enrollment
Dual-enrollment course offerings available include classes in mathematics, English, history, biology, food science, physics, chemistry, accounting, business, psychology, philosophy, Spanish, sociology, speech and theology.
UHC dual-enrollment courses will cost $150 per UHC course up to 11 credit hours per semester for high school students within the Archdiocese of New Orleans.
The new agreement was announced and signed by UHC president Dr. Stanton F. McNeely III and superintendent of Catholic schools, Dr. RaeNell Houston.
“One of our ongoing goals at the University of Holy Cross is to retain the brightest minds in the New Orleans community,” McNeely said. “This new agreement with the Archdiocese of New Orleans will allow juniors and seniors to get an early start on their college careers and keep them engaged in education and turn them into productive members of our New Orleans community.”
“As we continue to encourage life-long learning and faith formation among our Catholic school students, we want to ensure they have options to challenge their intellect,” Houston said. “We are pleased to be able to offer this option to area Catholic high school students who choose to pursue it.”
A fully accredited Catholic university in New Orleans, the University of Holy Cross (formerly Our Lady of Holy Cross College) offers more than 50 undergraduate and graduate programs to more than 1,200 students.
