Catholic Charities Archdiocese of New Orleans will lead a coalition that will help up to 1,225 people still struggling to rebuild their homes and lives after the damage caused by Hurricane Isaac.
Catholic Charities (CCANO) was selected by the Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services to administer an $8 million dollar grant from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). CCANO will partner with a number of other providers to deliver help across 26 parishes.
Under the program, case managers will guide families and individuals to resources. The program is not designed to provide direct aid, but will help link families to available services and material goods, including long-term sustainable housing, employment, furniture, appliances, counseling services and more. CCANO will oversee 35 case managers, who will assist individuals and families in assessing their outstanding disaster-caused needs, develop a plan to reach recovery, connect them to available resources that match their needs and monitor the recipients’ progress toward their recovery plan goals.
Those with unmet needs from Hurricane Isaac damage can call 1-866-891-2210 to access the program.
