At prayer services last Sunday at St. Louis Cathedral and Monday at St. Peter Church in Covington, Archbishop Gregory Aymond welcomed nearly 350 catechumens and candidates who will enter the Catholic Church at the Easter vigil.
In his homily, Archbishop Aymond likened the 177 catechumens (who have not yet been baptized) and the 165 candidates (who have been baptized in the Christian faith) to the new members of a family who serve to strengthen the family unit. Here are excerpts of the archbishop’s homily:
