CORPUS CHRISTI CELEBRATION, June 2, the Feast of Corpus Christi, Pope Francis will celebrate a Holy Hour at 5 p.m. in Rome (10 a.m. CDT) to promote the New Evangelization. Many in New Orleans will be attending Mass at that hour. Please include prayers for the New Evangelization in your Mass intentions or Universal Prayers that day. Additionally, all are encouraged to participate in the Archdiocesan Corpus Christi celebration beginning at 9:30 a.m. with Mass at the National Shrine of Our Lady of Prompt Succor, followed by a eucharistic procession to Holy Name of Jesus Church, where solemn benediction will take place.

LOYOLA UNIVERSITY NEW ORLEANS, School of Music and Fine Arts hosts two jazz camps: Loyola Summer Jazz Band Camp, June 16-20, for non-beginners who have completed 7th-12th grade and who play piano, bass, guitar, drums or brass, woodwind or string instruments. It will increase their skills, understanding and appreciation of jazz by working with the Loyola jazz faculty in master classes, private lessons, improvisation and combinations with different instruments and concerts featuring Loyola faculty members and guests. Tuition is $200 for commuting students or $340 with room and board. 865-2164. 19th annual Louis “Satchmo” Armstrong Summer Jazz Camp, slated for July 1-19, music education classes to young student musicians ages 10-21. To qualify, students must also have a minimum of two years’ music study experience. The camp features guest artists-in-residence Kevin Eubanks and Norma Miller. Eubanks, an American jazz and fusion guitarist and composer, was the leader of Jay Leno’s “The Tonight Show” band from 1995-2010. Miller is an American swing dancer whose lengthy career has included collaborations with a variety of performers and musicians, including Ella Fitzgerald, Count Basie and Duke Ellington, among others.
