REUNION OF AMERICAN ROSIE THE RIVETER ASSOCIATION, 20th anniversary convention, June 1-3 at Hampton Inn Convention Center, New Orleans. Nonprofit association seeks women who supported World War II on home front as riveters, electricians, inspectors in plants, sewers of parachutes and clothing for military, clerical workers, bandage rollers and volunteers collecting materials such as scrap metal. DAMEANS, 50th reunion concert, June 3, 3-5 p.m. Doors open at 2:15 p.m. Ursuline Academy Auditorium, 2635 State St. (at Willow Street), New Orleans. The Dameans are a group of Catholic musicians who composed and recorded albums of liturgical music. The current members are Darryl Ducote, Mike Balhoff, Paul “Buddy” Ceasar, Gary Ault and Gary Daigle. The Dameans formed in 1968 and included Dave Baker; these young men were students at Notre Dame Seminary in New Orleans. Join them as they celebrate their 50th reunion in song. LANTERN LIGHT, inaugural gala, “Strolling Through New Orleans,” June 8, 7-10 p.m., the Alexander Room, 3200 Ridgelake Drive, Metairie. Dining with cuisine from local restaurants; dancing with performances by singer Sharon Martin, trumpeter and vocalist James Andrews, Chuck Stiebing; a 50/50 raffle and a chance to win great items donated from local organizations. Lantern Light began as a ministry in 2005 by the Conference of Presentation Sisters to work among the homeless and underserved. The sisters sought partnerships with other local organizations to create a multi-service recovery center, which is now the Rebuild Center at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Lantern Light Ministry assists guests in obtaining birth certificates, identification, provides mail service, employment services, prescriptions, case management services, an art program, emergency financial assistance, notary service and food stamp/Medicaid application assistance. The agency also hosts a Second Harvest Food Bank location that provides meals for 150 -200 families annually.
