BLOOD DRIVE, July 31, noon-6 p.m., for 16-year-old St. Michael Special School student Emma Ryan who was diagnosed in June with leukemia (ALL). Drive is at St. Michael’s Special School, 1522 Chippewa St. The goal is 50 blood donations. Emma already has needed 20 platelet and 5 blood cell transfusions. FETE-DIEU DU TECHE 2017 PROCESSION, along Bayou Teche, Aug. 15 starts with an 8 a.m. French Mass celebrated by Lafayette Bishop John Douglas Deshotel, homilist, at St. Leo’s Church in Leonville, then procession at 9 a.m. Celebrates the 252nd anniversary of the Catholic Faith in Acadiana and 200th anniversary in St. Martinville. followed by a procession to the landing at 9 a.m.; a boat procession departs at 9:30 a.m. and stops at churches in Arnaudville, Cecilia, Breaux Bridge and parks for rosary, benediction. Ends at Evangeline Oak in St. Martinville where boaters will disembark and process into Notre Dame for benediction, then to St. Martin de Tours for benediction and procession down Main Street to Our Lady of Sorrows Chapel for vespers, benediction.
