KUDOS
OUR LADY OF HOLY CROSS COLLEGE recognized several outstanding faculty during its May 18 commencement. Eileen Stoll, MSN, from OLHCC’s Nursing Department, was named “outstanding full-time faculty member.” Juyanne James, MA, MFA, English and Development Studies departments, who has taught at OLHCC since 2005, was honored as “outstanding adjunct faculty member.” James earned a master’s in English from the University of New Orleans and a master’s in fine arts in writing from Spalding University, Louisville, Kentucky. She teaches creative writing and developed Holy Cross College’s first African-American literature course. Her short fiction and creative nonfiction include “The Elderberries” published in “New Stories from the South: the Best of 2009” and “You Don’t Know Me Children,” part of Selected Shorts Commissioned Project: 2011.
NICK ACCARDO, a coach and athletic director at Holy Rosary Academy and High School, was selected as one of 25 national finalists in the 2014 “Inspiring Coaches” award program sponsored by Brooks, a manufacturer of running gear. The program honors track and cross country coaches who not only support their teams with time, encouragement and dedication, but go above and beyond their job descriptions to keep their programs strong, make a lasting difference in the lives of their athletes, and inspire their athletes and others in the community to run and be active. Accardo is in charge of LHSAA sports at Holy Rosary and coaches the school’s track, cross country and wrestling teams. The 2014 Inspiring Coach of the Year will be announced in the fall.
