ST. PETER CATHOLIC CHURCH, 125 East 19th Ave., Covington, Feast of the Presentation of the Lord with a solemn procession from the sacristy to the entrance of the nave where traditional candle blessing, Feb. 2 at 8:30 a.m. Mass. The procession represents the entry of Christ, who is the light of the World, into the Temple of Jerusalem. Candles will be blessed. Also, the anniversary continues on Feb. 4 with a talk by Father Mark Toups in St. Mary’s Hall, “Be Still and Know that I am God,” beginning at 6:30 p.m. with a light dinner followed by the talk at 7 p.m. Father Toups received a Master of Divinity from Notre Dame Seminary in New Orleans. ENVIRONMENTAL JUSTICE TALK, through the lens of Pope Francis’ encyclical “Laudato Sí,” Feb. 12, 6-8 p.m., Schulte Auditorium at Notre Dame Seminary, 2901 South Carrollton Ave., New Orleans. Speaker: Carmelite Father Eduardo Scarel, an internationally respected priest-climatologist, will offer reflections on the relationship between science and faith, and spirituality and ecology, all flowing from the rich experience of his academic research and membership on international climate panels. EMMANUEL CULCASI, an international award-winning organist, will perform at St. Joseph Abbey Church Feb. 17 at 3 p.m. He is currently a Young Artist in Residence at St. Louis Cathedral, trained as a musician and is involved in educational science research.
