AMITIE, a nonprofit memorial foundation for suicide prevention, hosts third annual essay contest for students in grades 9-12 in southeast Louisiana to promote suicide awareness and prevention in high schools. Essay minimum: 1,000 words, typed, double-spaced, emailed as a PDF to info@savinglivesla.org or mailed to 1400 Wisteria Drive, Metairie, LA 70005 by Feb. 28. ST. EDWARD THE CONFESSOR hosts “The Merciful Love of God the Father,” presented by Msgr. Nalty’s Wednesday talk will focus on justice, and his Thursday talk on mercy. ST. ANN CHURCH AND SHRINE, Lenten Mission and Rosary Renewal, led by Oblate Father George Knab, who will preach at Mass March 5-6 on Mary and the rosary’s place in Catholic spirituality.  The rosary renewal will have a Mass and talk: March 6 at 7 p.m., and March 7-9 at 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. Also, Father Knab will hear confessions March 9 from noon to 4 p.m. After 7 p.m. Mass, an image of Mary will be honored with flowers.
