FREE TAX PREPARATION, from University of Holy Cross (UHC) tax accounting students for low-to-moderate income New Orleanians on Fridays and Saturdays through April 13 (except March 8-9) from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. In conjunction with the IRS’ Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program (VITA). 4123 Woodland Drive, Room 1034, Algiers campus. Bring the following: proof of identification; Social Security cards for the individual, spouse and any dependents; birth dates for the individual, spouse and any dependents on the tax return; current year’s tax package (if one was received); wage and earning statement(s) Form W-2, W-2G, 1099-R from all employers; interest and dividend statements from banks (Forms 1099); copy of last year’s federal and state returns, if available; bank routing numbers and account numbers for direct deposit; total paid for daycare provider and the daycare provider’s tax identification number (the provider’s Social Security number or the provider’s business Identification Number). If filing a married joint return, both spouses must be present. These students have received training and are certified for basic tax returns. Most VITA sites offer free electronic filing. ST. JOSEPH ABBEY CONCERT, international award-winning organist Emmanuel Culcasi will perform at a free concert Feb. 17, 3 p.m., St. Joseph Abbey Church. Culcasi is currently the Young-Artist-in-Residence at St. Louis Cathedral in New Orleans.
