The Big Read in New Orleans focuses on Ernest Gaines’ “A Lesson Before Dying” and has activities based on the book Feb. 23-March 23, including an opening night ceremony Feb. 23, 5-7 p.m. at Xavier University Center, honoring Gaines, who will be present.
