THE CENTER OF JESUS THE LORD’S small Christian communities of Scripture Studies will begin again Aug. 21 in members’ homes in Chalmette, New Orleans, Gretna, Metairie and Kenner; as well as at the Center on Tuesday afternoon. This session’s concentration is called “Salvation,” a Lectio Divina course from the Augustine Institute. Groups pray, watch a video lesson, discuss questions and share experiences. Members receive a study book and are encouraged to do individual prayer and study at home (prior to meetings) on the topic using the five “commit” lessons. PROJECT LAZARUS, Bon Appetit fundraiser returns on Sept. 10 after a three-year hiatus. The dessert and champagne after-party will be from 9 p.m.-midnight at Generations Hall in the Warehouse District. The fundraiser involves volunteers hosting dinners in their homes to benefit Project Lazarus. MASS FOR VICTIMS AND SURVIVORS OF VIOLENCE, Sept. 11, 11 a.m. at St. Louis Cathedral. Archbishop Gregory Aymond will celebrate. Parishes can submit names of parish families affected by violence and murder. They will receive an invitation. Families who have lost loved ones are encouraged to bring a framed photo of that person to carry during the procession. Survivors who attend will be remembered in prayer.
