FETE-DIEU DU TECHE, fifth annual eucharistic procession on Bayou Teche, Aug. 15, 8 a.m.-6 p.m. Marking the 254th anniversary of French-Canadian immigrants bringing Catholic faith to Acadiana. Father Michael Champagne coordinates and said “the Blessed Sacrament will be fixed on an altar on the lead boat under a canopy, with a pair of adorers in adoration between the towns visited.” Another boat will carry Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary statue. Eucharistic procession stops, disembarks at makeshift altars along Bayou Teche for rosary recitation, benediction of blessed sacrament.
