Yvonne LaFleur named the 2017 Alumna of the Year of Cabrini High School. A 1965 graduate, the acclaimed fashion designer earned a bachelor of science in fashion merchandising from LSU and, at age 22, began her career in design and merchandising. She is chief executive officer of Yvonne LaFleur/New Orleans and predecessor companies, selling lingerie, dresses, hats, bridal apparel and a fragrance line. She refers to the Missionary Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus (founded by St. Frances Xavier Cabrini) as her family and shows her Cabrini spirit by having her shopping bags and store decor covered with violets, the flower associated with Mother Cabrini.
