Cabrini High School’s Cheerleaders attended the Universal Cheerleading Association (UCA) Camp at Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond.
While at camp they learned multiple cheers, chants, and dances that will be used during the year to motivate and entertain the student body of Cabrini High School.
The team earned three superior ribbons on their formal evaluations for their Sideline routine, Game Day routine, and Extreme Routine. The team was awarded second place overall for their Game Day Championship sideline routine. The Cabrini cheerleaders were also awarded the prestigious UCA Tradition Award selected by the UCA staff that inspires leadership on and off the field for displaying a positive attitude, cheering on other teams, showing respect to the staff, and for giving 100 percent effort during classes.
Individual recognition went to Jacie Ferlandy and Aimee Gonsoulin both of whom earned UCA All-American cheerleader status after successfully trying out. Cabrini Senior Kaitlyn Schlumbrecht was invited to tryout for the UCA staff following her senior year.
