William Hebert, president of De La Salle High School, has announced his resignation as school president because of health issues. Hebert had been named president in August.
Hebert will continue to work at De La Salle on a part-time basis.
“We are grateful to Mr. Hebert for his service to De La Salle, not just over the last few months as president, but over a career spanning 44 years,” said John Fox, chairman of the board of trustees. “Mr. Hebert took the helm after the difficult changes that occurred over the summer and guided the school back to a stable and calm course. As an affiliate of the Brothers of the Christian Schools, Bill Hebert exemplifies the role of a servant-leader. We all look forward to continuing to work with Mr. Hebert at De La Salle.”
Fox said Peggy St. John, principal, will continue to serve as the educational leader of De La Salle and collaborate with other top-level staff members to assure that De La Salle’s strong educational traditions continue. The school will begin a search for a new president immediately.
“The Board of Trustees is committed to the long-term stability of De La Salle High School,” Fox said. He indicated the trustees will seek an experienced Lasallian educator who understands the principles of inclusivity, diversity and excellence in education.
