On Sept. 27, members of the Knights of Columbus Council 9623 from Ascension of Our Lord Catholic Parish in LaPlace cooked and served more than 540 plates of spaghetti and meat sauce with green beans and a roll to families affected by Hurricane Laura's destruction in southwest Louisiana.
The families stopped by St. Theodore Catholic Parish in Moss Bluff, Louisiana.
The parish had damaged roofs that were covered with blue tarp to protect the buildings from further damage. The roof of the school suffered wind damage, but it was being fixed by several contractors so it could reopen Sept. 30.
The Knights went a second time, Oct. 18, and served 800 more hot meals of jambalaya, red beans and bread at St Theodore Catholic Church to those in need.
