Archdiocese honors golden anniversary couples

    The 50th annual Golden Wedding Anniversary celebration, sponsored by the Family Life Apostolate of the Archdiocese of New Orleans, was held at St. Philip Neri Church, 6500 Kawanee Ave., Metairie, on June 2.
    All couples married during 1963 were invited to attend, and 163 couples accepted the invitation, with clergy, relatives and friends of the jubilarians in attendance. Archbishop Gregory Aymond presided at the prayer service.
    During the prayer service each couple was presented with a scroll signed by the archbishop. A special papal blessing also was delivered for the occasion.
    Several of the couples observed anniversaries of more than 50 years. They are Edna and Francis Adams, 76 years, Westwego; Elvira and Henry Stropolo, 70 years, Metairie; Claire and Joseph Baudot, 65 years, Slidell; Orduna and Clay Clement, 64 years, Chalmette; Janette B. and Robert G.
