The Archdiocese of New Orleans’ Office of Catholic Schools and archdiocesan and religious-sponsored high schools will host the 2011-12 Catholic High School Information Night Sept. 14 at the University of New Orleans Human Performance Center at the Lakefront campus. Doors open at 4:30 p.m.
This is a change of venue, said Dr. Lisa Taylor, associate superintendent of Secondary Schools of the Office of Catholic Schools, in hopes of making it more convenient for students throughout the New Orleans area to attend.
Students and their parents will have the opportunity to visit with representatives from 21 area Catholic high schools. There is no formal program; students and parents may visit with Catholic school representatives until 7:30 p.m.
Taylor said approximately 500 to 600 students from 44 Catholic elementary schools attended last year, as well as about 50 from non-Catholic schools. The evening is designed to provide information to parents of students in upper elementary grades (mainly sixth through eighth grade) about the overall high school admissions process for Catholic Schools in the Archdiocese of New Orleans.
Open house schedules for individual schools will be distributed.
High schools slated to participate are Academy of Our Lady, Academy of the Sacred Heart, Archbishop Chapelle, Archbishop Hannan, Archbishop Rummel, Archbishop Shaw, Brother Martin, Cabrini, De La Salle, Holy Cross, Holy Rosary, Jesuit, Mount Carmel Academy, St. Augustine, St. Charles Catholic, St. Mary’s Academy, St. Mary’s Dominican, Ursuline Academy and Xavier University Preparatory School.
Academy of the Sacred Heart (Grand Coteau) and St. Stanislaus boarding schools also will be present.
For details or more information on the event, call Dr. Taylor at the Archdiocese of New Orleans’ Office of Catholic Schools at 861-6225 or e-mail her at [email protected].
Catholic High School Information Night is free and open to the public.
