During the week of Oct. 24, the Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD) Club at Academy of Our Lady organized daily activities to bring awareness to important issues such as texting and driving, driving under the influence, drug and alcohol use and cyber bullying.
By educating students on the consequences of actions, SADD encourages teens to make positive decisions when facing difficult situations.
Perhaps one of the most effective activities was a mock car crash organized by the Marrero Estelle Fire Department. The student body observed a simulated car wreck caused by driving under the influence.
Representatives of the fire department, Emergency Medical Services and state police took part in the re-enactment, designed to inform students of the life-altering consequences of such a dangerous situation.
