Nicole G. Alvarez, the former assistant principal at St. Andrew the Apostle School, has been named the new principal.
Before coming to St. Andrew the Apostle, Alvarez worked for Catapult Learning as a Title I Program supervisor for non-public schools in Jefferson, St. John the Baptist, Tangipahoa and Plaquemines parishes. She also worked in Title II as a supervisor of professional development and mentors in non-public schools. She mentored new teachers and worked as a Title I teacher and a regular classroom teacher in both private and public schools.
Alvarez earned a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and a master’s degree in educational leadership from Our Lady of Holy Cross College. She is a certified trainer in COMP (Classroom Organization and Management Program).
“I have spent a great deal of time reflecting on the past year at St. Andrew, while looking to the future and my ministry as a servant leader,” Alvarez said. “As the principal, I am the spiritual and academic leader of the school. It is my duty and call to serve God through the education of his children and to live a life of service while instilling that gift of service in my students.
“It is in the spirit of servant leadership that I vow to give of myself while serving as a role model for students and teachers. I am looking forward to a year where we continue to build a community founded on the values of Jesus where we support one another and celebrate our successes.”
