Micheline Dutil joined the Academy of the Sacred Heart as the interim head of school in 2021 and was named to the permanent head of school position for the 2022-23 academic year.
Dutil brings to the position extensive experience and success in Catholic education and administration. She was born in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, and at a young age moved with her family to Toronto, where she became bilingual in French and English.
She holds degrees from the University of Toronto, the Universite d’Ottawa and Mount St. Vincent University. Dutil served in the Catholic education system in Toronto for more than 30 years as a teacher and administrator.
With her children launched in their own careers abroad, Dutil accepted a position as headmaster at the International School of Arizona in Scottsdale in 2018. A lifelong learner, devoted to the Catholic Church, she was eager to share her love of learning and her faith with the students, staff and all families at Sacred Heart and is excited to once again work within a Catholic institution.
Dutil believes in the founding principles of the network of Sacred Heart schools and appreciates the sense of tradition and savoir faire that are entrenched on both the Rosary and Mater campuses.
She is pleased to continue to contribute to the excellent work that is underway regarding the academy’s capital campaign, the “Rosary Renewal” construction project and the implementation of a global education curriculum at the middle and upper school levels.
She is grateful for the welcome and support she has received since her arrival and looks forward to the continued success and growth of this exceptional school in the heart of Uptown.
Dutil is enjoying the friendly culture and the gastronomy of New Orleans. On weekends, she explores all that the city and the state have to offer. She very much appreciates the lush gardens and beautiful live oaks that line the boulevards.
