Academy of Our Lady Sophomore Courtney Roberts of Harvey earned the President’s Volunteer Service Award for her volunteer service. The award, which recognizes Americans of all ages who have volunteered significant amounts of their time to serve their communities and their country, was granted by The Prudential Spirit of Community Awards program on behalf of President Barack Obama. Courtney spends her summers volunteering at West Jefferson Medical Center and helps the nursing staff take vital signs of heart patients, helps patients with physical therapy exercises and diet plans and visits patients. Courtney wants to enter the medical field. Prudential Financial partners with the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP) to sponsor this award to recognize middle level and high school students.
Salesian Sister Michelle Geiger, principal, presents Courtney Roberts with her certificate.
