Twenty-two Academy of Our Lady students traveled to Thibodaux, Louisiana, to compete in the Louisiana Region I Science Olympiad at Nicholls State University on March 23. In Division B of students in sixth through ninth grade, Academy of Our Lady’s team placed second overall and qualified for the state competition. Ten Academy of Our Lady students on the Division C team placed in competing categories in grades ninth through 12. Division B Team awards included: first place in Circuit Lab by freshmen Milea Tran and Christine Pham; Write It/Do It with freshman Christine Pham and Emma Palmisano. first place in Elastic Launched Glider with freshmen Milea Tran and Paris Labadie; first in Heredity with freshmen Emma Palmisano and Paris Labadie.
Second place finshes were in Crime Busters with pre-freshman Gabrielle Jenkinsand freshman Paris Labadie; in Disease Detectives by freshmen Milea Tran and Emma Palmisano; Potion & Poisons with freshman Christine Pham and pre-freshman Kaylee Nguyen; and Thermodynamics with pre-freshmen Kayla Dion, Jaden Armond and freshman Emma Palmisano.
Third place finishes were in Game On with freshman Christine Pham and pre-freshman Duyen Pham; Herpetology with freshman Anh Dao and pre-freshman Juliana Sykes;n Road Scholar with pre-freshmen Jaden Armond and Kyra Poree; and Solar System with- pre-freshman Jaden Armond and Kayla Dion.
