Academy of Our Lady had six students who were recipients of various community rewards in the 2017-18 school year.
Junior Gianna Ezeb, Gretna, was the recipient of the Frederick Douglas and Susan B. Anthony Humanities/Social Sciences award. The University of Rochester in Rochester, New York , presents an award to a student for outstanding achievement in the humanities and/or social sciences.
Junior Hailey Lovell, Marrero, was awarded the St. Michael’s College Book Award, recognizing achievements of volunteerism in academics and community service.
Junior Georgette Toups, Gretna, got the George Eastman Young Leaders Award for being an outstanding junior in academic achievement and leadership skills.
Junior Amelia Russell, Marrero, was awarded the Xerox Award for being the junior with a strong interest in innovation and/or information technology and a high level of achievement in this area in coursework and outside of school, leading fellow students to new approaches in solving old problems and is involved in innovation community service.
Junior Michaela Thaibinh, Marrero, was the recipient of the Tulane Book Award presented for outstanding academic achievement and community service from Tulane University Undergraduate Admissions Department.
Junior Zarifa Abdeljabar, Gretna, was awarded the Bausch & Lomb Science Award as being an outstanding junior science student. She qualifies for the National Scholarship Competition sponsored by the University of Rochester.
