In a Tricentennial lecture, archdiocesan archivist Dr. Emilie Leumas spoke about how the local church ministered to all cultures over the last three centuries. “For the past 300 years, as immigrants stepped onto Louisiana’s shores, the New Orleans church has baptized the young and buried the faithful,” Leumas said. “It has ministered to the faithful in their language, the language of their heart.” She said
