The Table Foundation will host the second annual Olive Mass at St. Louis Cathedral, which brings together food, beverage and hospitality professionals who serve in the New Orleans community, Sept. 25 at 10 a.m.
Archbishop Gregory Aymond will be the principal celebrant. Father Leo Patanlinghug, founder of The Table Foundation, will be the homilist.
All members of the food, beverage and hospitality industry are especially invited to attend, as well as to a post-Mass reception at Chef John Besh’s Pigeon and Prince, hosted by The Table Foundation.
The Mass will be broadcast locally by WLAE-TV and live-streamed at nolacatholic.org.
At the reception, a panel of some of New Orleans’ best and most famous chefs, moderated by New Orleans chef Greg Reggio of Taste Buds Management, will discuss the social significance of food and hospitality.
The Table Foundation also introduce two new awards for those working in the hospitality industry:
More information about the second annual Olive Mass can be found online at https://thetablefoundation.org/the-olive-mass/.
The Table Foundation was inspired by the vision of Father Patalinghug, host and founder of “Grace Before Meals,” an apostolic movement to strengthen relationships through the family meal.
The foundation seeks to serve as a charitable organization to broaden the outreach of feeding people’s bodies, minds and souls. The history and tradition of all religions has shown how the simple act of feeding people can promote peace and harmony and bring about the loving presence of God.
This human reality, beautifully captured in the sacred traditions of Roman Catholic teaching, shows that food is the most universal language of all.
