Fourteen teams – 12 of which have winning records – will take part in the annual Catholic League Volleyball Tournament, co-hosted by Ursuline and Dominican high schools Sept. 20-21.
Matches begin at 4 p.m. on the tournament’s first day, and at 8 a.m. on Sept. 21 at both host schools.
First-round games at Ursuline pair Ursuline (5-2) vs. St. Katharine Drexel Prep (2-2), and Teurlings Catholic (7-1) vs. Archbishop Hannan (3-6) at 4 p.m.
Drexel Prep is also scheduled to oppose Notre Dame (6-4) at 6 p.m.
Dominican’s gym will host a match between St. Thomas More (6-2) and Mount Carmel (6-4), and Academy of the Sacred Heart-New Orleans (3-2) against Dominican (3-2) on side-by-side courts at 4 p.m.
Archbishop Chapelle (8-3) will play its first match on Sept. 20 against Hannan at 6 p.m. on the Ursuline court.
Meanwhile, Academy of the Sacred Heart-Grand Coteau (6-0) will meet Mount Carmel in a 5 p.m. match at Dominican, followed by a 6 p.m. match between two unbeatens – Pope John Paul II (8-0) and Cabrini (4-0).
St. Charles Catholic (4-1) has its first match on Sept. 21 at 11 a.m. against Archbishop Hannan at Ursuline.
Eight schools will send junior varsity teams to fill two-day tournament brackets. Jayvee teams from Sacred Heart-N.O., Chapelle, Cabrini, E.D. White, Pope John Paul II, Dominican, Ursuline and Vandebilt Catholic have matches scheduled between the varsity program.
Each varsity team is guaranteed five matches. Some matches may begin ahead of their scheduled time.
