Deacon Dennis Adams, who will retire after nearly 19 years as executive director of Christopher Homes – the archdiocese’s affordable housing ministry – says his life has been enriched by the gratitude of so many senior residents.
The Maronite Catholic community, one of 24 rites of the Catholic Church, has been celebrating its liturgies monthly on Sundays at St. Joseph Church on Tulane Avenue in New Orleans. Maronite Catholic liturgies also are celebrated in Covington, Baton Rouge and in Lafayette.
The Spirit of '76 chapter of the National society Daughters of the American Revolution recently dedicated a plaque in St. Louis Cemetery No. 1 honor of the contributions of the 265 Louisiana patriots who fought in the Revolutionary War under Gen. Bernardo de Galvez. Many are buried in this New Orleans cemetery just outside of the French Quarter.

St. Charles Borromeo spent this past year celebrating its 300th anniversary as a Catholic parish in the Archdiocese of New Orleans. The celebration culminated Nov. 4 with a Mass, concelebrated by Archbishop Gregory Aymond, Father Dominic “Mixie” Arcuri, and other priests and deacons, and also the dedication of Ascension Plaza.
