VATICAN CITY – In the days leading up to Pope Francis’ canonization of two of his predecessors in St. Peter’s Square, Romans were bracing for the arrival of as many as 3 million outsiders. Nineteen heads of state, 24 prime ministers and 23 government ministers from various countries are due in Rome April 27-28 for the canonization of Blessed John XXIII and Blessed John Paul II, Italian Interior Minister Angelino Alfano said.

Uniendo el evangelio, con la primera lectura de los hechos de los Apóstoles (2:42-47), quiero mostrar la continuidad histórica irrompible en cuanto a los dones del resucitado para sus apóstoles, las enseñanzas de ellos a las gentes, la formas litúrgicas de celebrar estos misterios y la experiencia comunitaria que se comenzó ese dia de la resurrección y se continúa en la historia de la iglesia.

On April 7, Dominican’s Pro-Life Club had the honor of hosting Sister of St. Joseph Helen Prejean to speak to the student body. Sister Helen, an advocate for the abolition of the death penalty and author of the books, “Dead Man Walking: An Eyewitness Account of the Death Penalty in the United States,” and “The Death of Innocents: An Eyewitness Account of Wrongful Executions,” spoke about her experiences counseling inmates on death row.

There was a lot of excitement inside the cathedral at the Chrism Mass when you explained what a synod is and then opened the synod process. Did you get a lot of comments? Yes, I did. There was a great deal of excitement and comments, first of all, about the large number of priests who were there.
