Three priests of the Archdiocese of New Orleans – Father Paul Desrosiers, Archbishop Emeritus Alfred Hughes (kneeling) and Archbishop Gregory Aymond – pray before the body of former Biloxi Bishop Roger Morin before his Funeral Mass Nov. 7 at Cathedral of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Biloxi. Bishop Morin, who died Oct. 31 at the age of 78, served for decades as a priest of the Archdiocese of New Orleans and was auxiliary bishop here from 2003-09, before serving as the third bishop of Biloxi from 2009 until his retirement in 2016.
“(He was) filled with the love of Jesus Christ,” said Bishop Morin’s successor, Bishop Louis Kihneman, in his homily. Bishop Morin died on an airplane flight from Boston to Atlanta while returning from a family vacation. Bishop Kihneman said Bishop Morin had a love for everyone he met. “He had a heart for you, a love for you. He didn’t proclaim it in trumpets. That wasn’t his way. But he loved every one of you.” After the Mass, Bishop Morin was interred in the Bishops Cemetery and Memorial Prayer Garden, located behind the Biloxi cathedral.
