After three months of spiritual, liturgical and doctrinal training, 11 boys received their cassocks and surplices during Mass on the Memorial of the Queenship of the Blessed Virgin Mary from Father José Cáceres at the Northshore Hispanic Pastoral Center. During an altar server installation ceremony, their parents presented them at the sanctuary. After a blessing from Father Cáceres, they were vested to start serving at Spanish Masses he celebrates at the pastoral center on Sundays at noon; at St. Jane de Chantal, Abita Springs, Thursdays, at 7:30 p.m.; at Holy Family, Franklinton, Sundays, at 3 p.m.; and at Assumption, Bogalusa, Sundays at 5 p.m. “When I was 4 years old, I told my mom ‘I want to be there and put on a white alb,’” said new altar server Ernesto Lira, 8. “ I was very little then, but I never gave up. My mom says that she thought I didn’t know what I was saying, but now she understands.”
