Holiest of weeks

Holy Week, the summit of the Christian liturgical year, begins with Palm Sunday, marking Jesus’ triumphant entrance into Jerusalem amidst palm-waving crowds. On Holy Thursday, Jesus gives an example to his apostles about what they must do by washing their feet. On Good Friday, Jesus is condemned to death and carries his cross through the streets of Jerusalem to Calvary. At the Easter Vigil on Holy Saturday, the Exsultet proclaims: “O love, O charity beyond all telling, to ransom a slave you gave away your Son! O truly necessary sin of Adam, destroyed completely by the Death of Christ! O happy fault that earned so great, so glorious a Redeemer!”
