Get out your cameras, kids (and adults)!
From April 1-June 30, the New Orleans Catholic Cemeteries Office will be sponsoring a photo contest open to shutterbugs ages 9 and older.
Judges will select the best 12 original photos taken inside any Catholic cemetery for use in the 2020 calendar produced by the Cemeteries Office. Three of the 12 photo slots will be reserved for photographers ages 9-17.
Photos will be evaluated on their appeal, composition, content and photographic skill in capturing New Orleans’ Catholic cemeteries.
Here are the rules:
➤ Submitted photos must be taken inside a New Orleans Catholic cemetery during regular cemetery hours. Those eligible sites are St. Patrick, St. Louis, St. Roch, St. Joseph and St. Vincent cemeteries in New Orleans; and St. Charles Cemetery in Luling.
➤ Entries must include the date and location in which the photo was taken.
➤ Photos may not be submitted with any logo, identifying mark or name on the facing.
➤ Photos that include people in them will not be considered. Please do not intrude on a funeral or on the privacy of individuals and families visiting the cemetery.
➤ The photo must be original to the person submitting it. Please include your name and contact information with your entry (those 17 or younger must also list their age).
➤ Employees of New Orleans Catholic Cemeteries and their families are not eligible for the contest.
➤ Winners will receive prizes (TBD) and have their photos published in New Orleans Catholic Cemeteries’ 2020 calendar. Winning photos also will be used across the office’s social media platforms, with credit given to the photographers.
