Hannan student collects bears

Hope House Children’s Advocacy Center in Covington is an amazing nonprofit advocacy center for youth dedicated to ending child abuse in our community.

Those who work at the house conduct forensic interviews –  a fact-finding conversation aimed at discovering the facts surrounding a child’s abusive experience. The center also provides family advocacy and counseling.

When I discovered Hope House while searching for places to volunteer, I decided to visit. Upon my arrival, I immediately saw a large wall of bears that couldn’t be missed by anyone who enters.

The children at the center have an opportunity to choose any bear they would like. These bears provide comfort and joy for kids and teens who truly need them.

I love working with kids, and I plan on pursuing a career helping children. I thought this was the perfect place for me, and I wanted to help them in any way possible.

Student Emma Daigrepont is a junior at Archbishop Hannan High in Covington.
