Winners were announced recently at the opening of the Taylor Education Center, 612 Andrew Higgins Boulevard. Phyllis M. Taylor is pictured with the winners, who took home cash prizes for themselves and earned 10 times that amount for their respective schools. Winners were Ella Cheramie, ($1,800 first prize and $18,000 for St. Mary’s Dominican High School); second-place Marisa Scarlata ($1,500, plus $15,000 for Cabrini High School); third-place Elijah Turk ($1,200, plus $12,000 for the NET Charter High School; fourth-place Kennedi White ($900, plus $9,000 for Cabrini High School); and fifth-place Ryan Simien Jr., ($600, plus $6,000 for New Orleans Charter Science and Mathematics High School).
