Mount Carmel student names Presidential Scholar
Mount Carmel Academy senior Aidaana Ulan Amanbekova of Metairie, a National Merit finalist, was named one of 141 U.S. Presidential Scholars by the White House Commission on Presidential Scholars. Students are chosen based on academic success, artistic excellence, essays, school evaluations and transcripts, as well as evidence of leadership, community service, and demonstrated commitment to high ideals. Aidaana will attend Loyola University New Orleans in the fall, where she plans to major in psychology.
Eighth grader is recipient of St. Therese award
Jenna Elizabeth Cavalero, a Mount Carmel Academy eighth grade student, was chosen as the recipient of the St. Therese of Lisieux Award by her classmates at the May Awards Ceremony on May 23. The St. Therese of Lisieux Award is presented annually to the eighth grader who most clearly exhibits the virtues of St. Therese: her faith, her simplicity, and her service to others.
