SCREENING OF SELMA, St. Luke the Evangelist’s multicultural committee hosts special, free screening of the film by Ava DuVernay about the voting rights marches led by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. with an introduction by parish council president Bruce Weaver. BUS FOR LOUISIANA LIFE MARCH, state event in Baton Rouge on Jan. 20, departs from St. Margaret Mary Church in Slidell parking lot near building E, 7:15 a.m. The Baton Rouge Life March event is from 10 a.m.-noon and proceeds south on North 4th Street, west on North Boulevard, south on River Road to the Levee Green near the U.S.S. Kidd battleship. A formal program will be held at the Levee Stage, beginning at 11 a.m. Bring bag lunch (water supplied). The bus has bathroom, limited seating and returns around 2 p.m. Cost $15.
