Christmas Mass schedules for CBD churches

The Archdiocese of New Orleans has announced schedules of Masses at business district churches for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

ST. LOUIS CATHEDRAL: Dec. 24, Christmas Vigil Mass at 5 p.m., preceded by carols at 4:30 p.m. Doors will reopen at 11:15 p.m. in advance of the Mass at Midnight, with prelude music performed at 11:30 p.m. by the St. Louis Cathedral Choir under the direction of Dreux Montegut. Archbishop Gregory M. Aymond will celebrate the Mass, which will be televised live beginning at midnight on WLAE-TV. Tickets are not required. Masses Christmas Day will be at 9 and 11 a.m.

Masses for the Solemnity of Mary will be Jan. 1 at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m.

OUR LADY OF GUADALUPE CHURCH, 411 N. Rampart St.: Dec. 24, Fourth Sunday of Advent Masses, 7:30, 9:30, 11:30 a.m.; 1:30 p.m. (Spanish); Christmas Vigil Mass at 4 p.m. Christmas carols prior to Midnight Mass beginning at 11:30 p.m.  Christmas Day, Dec. 25, Masses at 7:30, 9:30, 11:30 a.m.; 1:30 p.m. (Spanish).

IMMACULATE CONCEPTION CHURCH (Jesuits), 130 Baronne St.: Dec. 17, Lessons & Carols at 4:00 p.m.; Dec. 24 (Fourth Sunday of Advent), Masses at 8 a.m., 9:30 a.m. and 11 a.m.; Dec. 24, Christmas Vigil Masses at 4 p.m. and 6 p.m., Concert of Sacred Christmas Music at 11:30 p.m. and Midnight Mass of the Nativity; Dec. 25, Masses at 8, 9:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. There will be no 7:30 p.m. Mass, confessions or devotions; Dec. 31 (Holy Family), Masses at 8 a.m., 9:30 a.m., 11 a.m. and 4 p.m.  There will be no 7:30 p.m. Mass, confessions or devotions; Jan. 1 (New Year’s Day) Masses at 7:30 a.m. and noon.

ST. JOSEPH CHURCH, 1802 Tulane Ave.: Dec. 25, Midnight Mass (carols begin at 11:30 p.m.); and Dec. 25, 10 a.m.; Mass for the Solemnity of Mary, Jan. 1, 10 a.m. There will be no vigil Mass on Dec. 24 or Dec. 31.

ST. PATRICK CHURCH, 724 Camp St.: Dec. 24, Christmas Vigil Masses (English) with carols at 4 and 5:30 p.m. Doors open at 9 p.m. with music beginning at 9:15 p.m. by the St. Patrick choir, followed at 10 p.m. by the Solemn High Mass (Latin Mass). The St. Patrick’s Choir will sing Haydn’s “Little Organ Mass”. On Dec. 25, St. Patrick’s will have Masses at 9:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m., both in English. (There will be no 8 a.m. or 5:30 p.m. Masses.) For Dec.  31, St. Patrick’s Church will follow the normal Sunday Mass schedule.

ST.  JOHN THE BAPTIST CHURCH, 1139 Oretha Castle Haley Blvd.:  Christmas Vigil Mass, Dec. 25 at 4 p.m.  Parking for St. John can be accessed through the rear gate entrance on S. Rampart Street.

Security will be provided for all evening Masses at both St. Patrick’s Church and St. John the Baptist Church. Confession will be heard before all Masses, ending 15 minutes prior to the beginning of each Mass.
