Academy of Our Lady math teacher lauded

Academy of Our Lady’s faculty member Sheila Walsh, a Chicago native, has been named the 2017 Outstanding New Math Teacher of the Year by the Louisiana Association of Teachers of Mathematics. She is in her fourth year teaching at Academy of Our Lady (AOL), an all girls’ school located in Marrero. Walsh has a bachelor of science in mathematics from Marquette University in Milwaukee. She joined the AOL faculty in the 2013-14 school year as part of University of Notre Dame’s Alliance for Catholic Education Teaching Fellows Program. The ACE Teaching Fellows Program places graduate students, who demonstrate a passion for Catholic education, at Catholic schools around the country to teach for two years while studying to receive a master’s of education degree.
